How The Chomp approaches our journalism
The Chomp is a vegan publication with a clear editorial perspective.
We believe transparency about that perspective matters. So is getting the facts right.
Accuracy
We aim to accurately represent the facts underlying every news story, research summary, quotation, statistic, and claim we publish.
Whenever practical, we prefer original sources such as scientific papers, government data, court documents, organizational announcements, regulatory documents, company statements, and direct interviews.
Secondary reporting may be used when appropriate.
Scientific research
Scientific studies are rarely the final word on a subject.
When reporting research, we try to distinguish between correlation and causation, human and animal research, observational studies and controlled trials, preliminary findings and established evidence.
We may simplify technical language for a general audience, but we do not intentionally change what a study found.
Links to original research are provided whenever practical.
Headlines
Our headlines are designed to be clear, interesting, and understandable outside an academic or industry setting.
A headline may summarize the most important or striking element of a story, but it should remain supported by the underlying evidence.
Our vegan perspective
The Chomp does not claim to be ethically neutral about animals.
We believe animals deserve moral consideration, and our commentary may explicitly discuss animal exploitation, suffering, individual lives, veganism, or opportunities to reduce harm.
We distinguish that editorial perspective from factual claims about what happened, what a person said, or what research found.
Opinion and commentary
Some content contains interpretation, commentary, humor, criticism, or opinion.
Those elements reflect The Chomp’s editorial voice and should not be mistaken for claims that an opinion itself has been scientifically proven.
Corrections
Mistakes happen. When we identify a meaningful factual error, we aim to correct it promptly.
Minor spelling, grammar, formatting, or clarity edits may be made without a correction notice.
Material corrections may be noted on the article where appropriate.
Correction requests can be sent to [CORRECTIONS EMAIL].
Product coverage
We may cover products because they are newsworthy, useful, interesting, unusual, or relevant to our audience.
Receiving a product, earning an affiliate commission, or having an advertising relationship does not guarantee positive coverage.
Material commercial relationships will be disclosed where appropriate.
Sponsored content
We will label sponsored or paid content so readers can distinguish it from independent editorial coverage.
Images and illustrations
We use a mixture of photography, graphics, illustrations, licensed media, supplied images, and other visual material.
We may sometimes use illustrative, composited, or AI-generated imagery. When an image could reasonably cause readers to mistake an illustration for documentary evidence of a real event, we aim to identify it appropriately.
Sources and updates
News changes.
Articles may be updated when additional information becomes available, a source changes its reporting, new research is published, or additional context becomes relevant.
Our goal is straightforward:
Make it compelling. Make it vegan. Get the facts right.
